God of War Limited Edition PS4 Pro Release Date and Price Announced

PS4-exclusive God of War may have been developed with the standard PS4 in mind but that's not stopping Sony from announcing the God of War Limited Edition PS4 Pro bundle. As the name suggests, it's in short supply with pre-orders now open at select retailers the world over. The God of War Limited Edition PS4 Pro release date is April 20 internationally, three days after the God of War release date of April 17. As for how much it would cost you, Sony says the God of War Limited Edition PS4 Pro price is $400.

The God of War Limited Edition PS4 Pro bundle has a fully customised Leviathan Grey 1TB PS4 Pro console inspired by God of War protagonist Kratos’ Axe. There's a matching DualShock 4 controller with an insignia to match the console's aesthetic. It also comes with a copy of the game, rather the God of War Day One Edition on Blu-ray disc to be precise. If you find it too ostentatious, there's a PS4 Slim 1TB console that comes with God of War on disc, it's also out on April 20.
In addition to this, Sony also explained what PS4 Pro enhancements you can expect in God of War.

God of War PS4 Pro enhancements

"When played on PS4 Pro with a 4K TV, God of War outputs at 2160p. Players with HDR displays can experience God of War with HDR lighting and a wide colour gamut," a post on Sony's blog claims. No information on frame rate has been mentioned nor are there any details on modes to prioritise image quality over frame rate and vice versa. Though it's likely to be a 30fps experience through and through.

What is the God of War Limited Edition PS4 Pro India price and release date?

Of late Sony India has been aggressive with its bundles for the country. We've seen Call of Duty World War 2's camouflage PS4 make it to India as well as Glacier White, Silver, and Gold versions of the PS4 Slim. If the God of War Limited Edition PS4 Pro releases in India, expect it to be priced at Rs. 41,990 which is what a regular PS4 Pro costs in the country. Granted it's a lot steeper than the $400 price internationally, but that's due to India's pricing falling in line with Europe where the console costs 400 Euros. Throw in an increase in customs duty after the 2018 Union Budget and you have an expensive proposition for many which may ensure it doesn't show up at all. As for an exact release date, Gadgets 360 has got in touch with Sony India for comment and will update this post if we hear from the company.

Burnout Paradise Remastered Release Date Leaked

One of EA’s worst kept secrets, Burnout Paradise Remastered has a release date. According to retail banners spotted by eagle-eyed redditors, Burnout Paradise Remastered release date is March 16 for the PS4 and Xbox One.

This comes weeks after it was discovered that a remaster of the 2008 classic would hit Japan on the same day. March 16 appears to be the date for its global release as well.

Burnout Paradise was one of the first open-world games of last generation to garner mainstream appeal and was the last game in the Burnout series from series creator Criterion who since then have worked on EA franchises such as Need for Speed and Star Wars Battlefront. Burnout Paradise is playable on the Xbox One via backwards compatibility as well.

Since Burnout Paradise the racing game landscape has changed drastically with many more titles embracing open-world ethos along with high-speed hijinks such as The Crew and most notably, the Forza Horizon series.

Perhaps Burnout Paradise Remastered is EA’s way to test the waters before greenlighting a fully-fledged current-gen entry in the much loved series? We surely hope so. Though with the company working on new Need for Speed, FIFA, Battlefield, and the inevitable Star Wars Battlefront 3, it seems unlikely. Safe to say, it possibly exists as a quick cash grab, which is odd considering EA has said at the start of this generation that it has no plans to release remakes or remasters of its past titles.

PS4 System Update 5.50 Beta Brings Supersampling to PS4 Pro

The PS4 Pro may soon make your games look better. According to those participating in the PS4 system software update 5.50 beta, supersampling has been added as an option to Sony's iterative console.

Supersampling allows games that support enhanced textures, anti-aliasing, and resolutions above 1080p to scale to 1080p screens allowing for improved image quality, fewer jagged edges, and a sharper overall experience.

Although most PS4 Pro enhanced games let you choose between better graphics or a higher frame rate or run with supersampling, this ensures that those that don't now will. It's an interesting addition as the Xbox One X has had it since launch, making it obvious that Sony is looking to close the gap from a features standpoint.

Nonetheless, Sony does note that the outcome of this will differ from game to game. In some cases, the image quality may not be all that better or the frame rate may be impacted.
While this is a part of the PS4 system software 5.50 beta, it will be interesting to see if Sony makes it available to a wider audience when 5.50 is ready for mass consumption, or perhaps hold it back for more testing.

This isn't the first time Sony has brought core, system-level features to the PS4 Pro with an update. Last year saw Boost Mode which promised to increase the frame rate in games that weren't optimised for the PS4 Pro albeit it saw mixed results. How much of an impact supersampling has will be a point of contention in the weeks to come. Till then, here's a list of games from popular gaming forum ResetEra that support supersampling.

PS4 Pro supersampling game list

  • The Last Guardian
  • Dishonored 2
  • Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age
  • Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn
  • Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection

  • Nex Machina: Death Machine

Far Cry 5 Gameplay, PC Specifications, DRM, and More

Far Cry 5 release date is March 27. In the run up to that, Ubisoft has released more details on this much anticipated open-world first-person shooter. Aside from the usual mix of stealth and action, certain missions involve a welcome amount of vehicular carnage. One of them has you tasked with returning a glorious big rig that’s in the possession of Eden’s Gate — the cultists you’re up against in the game. Dubbed as the Widowmaker, it has twin-mounted machine guns that made clearing out gas tankers and cultists with ease.

In addition to this, the Guns for Hire missions (which promise a special ending for seeing their arc play out) improve odds in any given battle by bolstering the resistance group in Hope Country against its zealots. This means allied forces armed with bows, machine guns, and shotguns make battles easier than they should be.

God of War PS4 Release Date, Price, Editions, and More

God of War for the PS4 finally has an official release date. The hotly anticipated PS4 and PS4 Pro exclusive is out April 20 this year. The price for God of War is Rs. 3,999 in India on disc and $60 internationally. In addition to this, there are several editions of the game up for grabs over and above the $60 standard edition.

God of War PS4 pre-order bonuses
Game Director Cory Barlog states that if you pre-order the game at any “supporting retailer” you’ll get access to legendary skins. Keep in mind you’ll need an Internet connection to access them. You’ll also receive Luck of Ages XP Boost. This grants +10 Luck and one Enhancement slot. Luck impacts XP, currency, and the ability to trigger perks. India should receive these at most retailers as we’ve seen with past games though Sony India is yet to confirm if this is the case.

God of War PS4 Collector’s Edition

Europe (the region India falls under for Sony) gets the God of War Collector’s Edition that’s not too dissimilar to the Stone Mason Edition that leaked prior for the US. It comes with digital content such as Death’s Vow Armour Set, Exile’s Guardian Shield, Dark Horse Comic, and a dynamic theme. Physical contents include:
  • 9-inch statue of Kratos and Atreus
  • Steelbook case including the God of War PS4 game
  • Cloth map
  • Exclusive lithograph Two Huldra brothers carvings
God of War PS4 Limited Edition
Much like the God of War Collector’s Edition it comes with digital extras. These include Death Vow’s Armour Set, Exile’s Guard Shield, and a dynamic theme. It also comes with:
  • Black and silver steelbook with the God of War PS4 game
  • Physical copy of an art book by Dark Horse

God of War PS4 Digital Deluxe Edition
This comes with a digital copy of the game and the following items:
  • Death’s Vow Armour Set
  • Exile’s Guardian Shield
  • Dark Horse Comic
  • Dynamic theme

Will God of War PS4 special editions come to India?

Considering that other PS4 games like Gran Turismo Sport and Uncharted 4 didn’t see their special editions make it to India, chances are slim. More over, Sony hasn’t listed the European prices for the Limited and Collector’s Editions just yet, crucial as India pricing takes its cues from those markets. Though the God of War Digital Deluxe edition is up for pre-order on the PlayStation Store for Rs. 3,999

Microsoft Xbox Game Pass Expanded to Offers Exclusive Games on Launch Day

In a way to attract more gamers, Microsoft has announced that all the exclusive games published by Microsoft Studios will be released into Xbox Game Pass on the same date as their global release. Sea of Thieves, which is launching on March 20, will be the first title to receive the new treatment, while the Redmond company has plans to bring its renowned franchises such as Halo, Forza, and Gears of War to Xbox Game Pass subscribers right on the same day of their launch. Xbox Game Pass was released back in June last year as Microsoft's paid service to offer over a 100-title bouquet at an as low monthly charge as Rs. 699.

Microsoft has confirmed that alongside the upcoming Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2 and Crackdown 3 will be the first few titles that will debut for Xbox Game Pass in line with their official launch schedules. Certainly, all this is likely to get even bigger with the arrival of titles from franchises including Halo and Gears of War. "We've only scratched the surface of the opportunity this new model brings to the industry and what we can deliver to our fans. We firmly believe Xbox Game Pass will be a catalyst to create new opportunities for game developers and publishers to innovate in the way games are developed and delivered, leading to entirely new ways to play," said Phil Spencer, Executive Vice President of Gaming, Microsoft, in a statement.

Apart from expanding the library, Microsoft has launched a six-month Xbox Game Pass subscription card that will be available in the US through select retail partners at $59.99. A Microsoft spokesperson confirmed Gadgets 360 that the six-month Xbox Game Pass subscription card will be available in India at Rs. 4,194. The company will continue to sell the one-month subscription at Rs. 699, and a 14-day free trial will be available for all, the spokesperson added.

Also known as "Netflix for Xbox", Xbox Game Pass is presently limited to Xbox One consoles. It originally included access to over 100 Xbox One and Xbox 360 titles.

On Tuesday, Microsoft launched the Xbox One X in India with a price tag of Rs. 44,990. The new game console is taking on the Sony PlayStation 4 Pro and offers a 4K gaming experience. It is available for purchase through Amazon, Flipkart, Croma, Landmark, and Microsoft India stores, in addition to over 100 speciality gaming stores in the country.

Made-in-India Video Games Could Come to the Nintendo Switch

It appears that games made in India may find their way to the Nintendo Switch. Multiple sources speaking to Gadgets 360 have said that Nintendo employees are in the country evaluating games from Indian studios for potential release on its platforms. This was confirmed by a Facebook post from Bengaluru-based Holy Cow Productions that was visited by Nintendo, whose staff are in the city for the Indian Gaming Show as well.
Previously, indie developers such as Yacht Club Games — responsible for Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove have come out in admiration for Nintendo’s support for independent developers with ample promotion and advertising.
Nintendo looking at India for games is a welcome move considering the intense competition on Android and iOS make it tough for local developers to stay afloat let alone monetise. So much so that game studios are looking at other revenue opportunities like e-sports to pivot to.
Amusingly, the Nintendo Switch isn’t available in India officially, though it has been selling steadily across stores - both online and offline.
“We see more customers asking for the Nintendo Switch than they do for the PS4 or Xbox One,” a buyer for a large format retail chain tells us.
For what it’s worth, we found the Nintendo Switch to be one of the better efforts from the House of Mario, more so with a strong line-upin its second year. The possibly of games from India just strengthen the notion of it being one of the more inclusive, developer-friendly consoles around.

New Xbox Elite Controller With USB Type-C Charging Leaked

Revealed at E3 2015, the Xbox Elite Controller was Microsoft’s attempt at making a premium gaming peripheral. And it appears to have been successful enough to warrant a new variant.

According to several reports, a new Xbox Elite Controller is in the works with USB Type-C charging and native Windows Bluetooth support (the current version requires you to use Microsoft’s proprietary dongle to use it wirelessly with your Windows PC). Other additions include three-level Hair Trigger Locks, longer key travel for the paddles, and a three-profile switch.

There are new grip sections to be added to the controller as well which should prevent wear and tear over time. Three LEDs are also present which is speculated to represent either battery life or extra profile support.
While Microsoft is yet to confirm the existence of a revised Xbox Elite Controller, we won’t be surprised to see it revealed at or before E3 2018. Considering that Microsoft India has brought controllers branded with its IPs such as Gear of War and Minecraft, this should see an India release as well.
Hopefully it makes it to India sooner than the current Xbox Elite Controller did — a whole year after its international debut. It retails for Rs. 10,990 and was initially exclusive to Flipkart. Despite the high price point, multiple sources in the supply chain confirmed to Gadgets 360 that it sold out its initial shipment of a 100 units in the month of release.

'Fable 4' for Xbox One and Windows PC in Development: Report

A new Fable game for Xbox One and Windows PC is in development. The game is being made by Forza Horizon 3 studio Playground. In recent months the UK-based company has been hiring staff for an open-world non-racing game poaching talent that’s worked on games like The Witcher 3, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice.
Sources speaking to Eurogamer have confirmed that the game in development is an entry in Microsoft’s Fable series. The last mainline entry was Fable 3 for the Xbox 360. And Playground’s efforts could very well result in Fable 4.

Prior to this, Microsoft cancelled development on co-op action role-playing game, Fable Legends and shuttered the studio behind it, Lionhead.
"I have slightly mixed feelings," Fable co-creator Simon Carter told Eurogamer.
"On the one hand it's great for the UK games industry, and very pleasing that Fable isn't dead; indeed, it will be lovely to play one as a punter, without coming out in hives.

"On the other hand it is a little curious to get rid of the team that is uniquely expert in making Fable, and then try and make Fable. Fable is a weird game, and a tough one to deconstruct for a new team. That said, the team in question is very talented, and I'm sure they'll do a fantastic job."

Apparently, the reason for the change of heart to bring Fable back from the dead was Microsoft seeing the success Sony had with Horizon Zero Dawn selling 3.4 million units as of June 2017.

With an install base of over 70 million PS4s, it’s no surprise that Horizon Zero Dawn found an audience and with the Xbox One reportedly having half the install base, it will be interesting to see how well this new take on Fable does.

The last entry in the franchise was Fable Fortune — a free-to-play digital card game by Flaming Fowl Studios that consists of Lionhead veterans.

And if you were wondering what would happen to the Forza Horizon series, fear not. According to the Brazilian ratings board, we could see Forza Horizon 4 this year.

Sony India hasn’t confirmed if India gets the God of War Stone Mason Edition just yet. Considering that Uncharted 4’s special editions skipped India, it’s safe to say this will be the case with God of War as well. The Gamestop ad states this edition will be available in early 2018, suggesting that Sony won’t be delaying the game to next year.

Samsung Starts Production on Next-Gen 16Gb GDDR6 DRAM Chips for Graphics Cards

South Korean giant Samsung Electronics on Thursday announced that it had initiated mass production of its first 16Gb (gigabit) Graphics Double Data Rate 6 (GDDR6) DRAM chip for upcoming graphics processors. The GDDR6 chip will use Samsung's new 10nm technology. The new chip also uses a proprietary low-power circuit design that is claimed to consume approximately 35 percent less energy than other GDDR6 chips in the market. Additionally, Samsung has doubled data transfer over its previous 8Gb GDDR5 chip.

As we mentioned, Samsung has begun production for its latest innovation in graphics DRAM chips. Succeeding the earlier 20nm technology is the latest 10nm class used in the new chip. It has a claimed pin speed of 18Gbps and data transfer speed of 72GBps. Additionally, it operates at 1.35V energy consumption using Samsung's low-power circuit design. Apart from a low energy advantage, Samsung also claims a 30 percent manufacturing productivity gain over the previous 20nm 8Gb GDDR5 chip.

These new chips will be adopted by major players involved in the production of next-generation graphics cards and gaming devices, with applications also in automotive, network, and AI systems. It will be compatible to work with complex technologies such as 8k video processing, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and artificial intelligence (AI), Samsung said.

"Beginning with this early production of the industry's first 16Gb GDDR6, we will offer a comprehensive graphics DRAM line-up, with the highest performance and densities, in a very timely manner. By introducing next-generation GDDR6 products, we will strengthen our presence in the gaming and graphics card markets and accommodate the growing need for advanced graphics memory in automotive and network systems." said Jinman Han, Senior Vice President, Memory Product Planning & Application Engineering at Samsung Electronics.

Xbox One X review: Grab an Xbox One X with six free games NOW

Already suffering from January blues? Well, Tesco has just the ticket to turn that frown upside down, with an excellent Xbox One X deal.
That's right, head on over to Tesco's website and you can purchase an Xbox One X for £449, and add up to six free games to your order. The free games on offer? That'll be Gears of War Ultimate Edition, Halo 5, Overwatch, Middle Earth: Shadow of War, call of Duty: WWII and Assassins Creed Origins. That's six Xbox One X games at no extra cost.
Microsoft Xbox One X review:
Before I get onto that, though, let me first outline the console’s key features. The Xbox One X is Microsoft’s first proper 4K games console. It will sit alongside the Xbox One S, which also has a 4K Blu-ray drive for UHD movie playback, but can only play games at 1080p resolution.

In terms of the UI and what you can do with the console, the Microsoft Xbox One X is pretty much identical to the One S; yes, it looks a little different, but switch it on and you’ll forget all about that. The key difference is more power under the hood, plus support for gaming at 4K and HDR, which means sharper graphics, frame rates and a richer colour palette.
To enable all that, there’s more power squeezed inside the Xbox One X than any other games console around, with a quoted 6TFLOPS of computing power – compared with the PS4 Pro’s 4.2TFLOPS – 12GB of GDDR5 RAM with 326MB/sec of bandwidth, 8GB of flash storage plus a 1TB internal hard disk.

Microsoft Xbox One X review: Design and the hardware:

The Xbox One X is a masterpiece of design. It doesn’t look flashy or even particularly exciting, but it’s compact – around the same size as the One S – it’s quiet and has all the connectivity you’d expect.
The front and left side is stepped with a short overhang obscuring the Blu-ray drive slot on the left side, there’s a front-mounted USB 3 socket and two further on the rear, plus a pair of HDMI sockets - one is for connecting your set-top box; while the other is an HDMI 2.0 output for connecting the console to your TV. The optical S/PDIF port makes another appearance, which gives plenty of flexibility to those preferring that type of output, or who have a wireless headphone like the Steelseries Siberia 800 connected.
The box itself supports HDR10, which is the most common form of HDR. It would have been nice to have Dolby Vision as well, which supports higher peak brightness and dynamic range than HDR10, but for now the Xbox One X covers most of the HDR-enabled TV’s on the market. Assuming you have a compatible TV, like the Samsung UE65KS9500 I tested the Xbox One X with, you’ll see both richer colours and brighter specular highlights.
Microsoft also promotes the console’s ability to support Dolby Atmos on its website, which is very much a GOOD THING. It’s worth underlining, though, that this is not only for 4K Blu-rays and streamed TV and movie content, but also those enhanced games (more on that later).
One thing the Xbox One X doesn’t bring is any kind of improvement on the controller front; in fact, you get exactly the same Bluetooth-enabled controller in the box as comes with the Xbox One S. It’s a great controller, but it would have been nice to see some features trickling down from the Xbox Elite controller, such as rear-mounted paddles or a rechargeable battery pack as standard.

Microsoft Xbox One X review: 4K performance and games content

And so to the elephant in the room: 4K games, how they look and how they play. The answer to the second part of that question is “exceptionally”. Play Gears of War 4, Super Lucky’s Tale, Forza Motorsport 7 or FIFA 18 side by side with the same titles on a One S and the differences are obvious.
Before I go on, though, it’s important to note that not all enhanced games will run in native 4K. Some will run with checkerboarding like the PS4 Pro and some will offer enhanced frame rates while others will use the power of the new console to offer dynamic resolution, increased texture detail and higher polygon counts. Some, of course, will do all of these things and look stunning – the point is, not all will.
In the end, it’s up to the developer to decide how to optimise for the One X, but all the games I’ve installed so far play more smoothly, look more colourful and pack cleaner, crisper and sharper visuals across the board on the One X. When you go back to the same games on the One S you’ll wonder where all the detail went and you'll certainly notice the frame rates are less smooth.
As far as Blu-ray video content goes, it looks just as good as it ever did on the Xbox One S with settings for 8-bit, 10-bit and 12-bit output, depending on what your TV supports.
As with all 4K content, however, there is a catch. And that is that is that, although the smoother gameplay and colours are obvious from any distance, as soon as you sit a reasonable distance away from your TV the extra detail that 4K brings just fades away. Everything looks great sitting in my Ikea armchair a metre away from my 55in Hisense M7000, but as soon as I go to sit on the sofa and play, those differences become less apparent.
The other issue for Microsoft is that the number of fully 4K-optimised games available at launch isn’t all that great. At launch, Microsoft’s first-party games support is fronted by Forza Motorsport 7, which it has to be said, does look utterly gorgeous, but the rest of the first-party 4K titles leave a little to be desired, with only Disneyland AdventuresRush: A Disney-Pixar AdventureZoo Tycoon Ultimate Animal CollectionSuper Lucky’s Tale, Killer Instinct, Gears of War 4, Halo 5 Guardians, Halo 3 and Halo Wars 2 among the list.
On the third-party front, only a light scattering of AAA titles is ready for day one. FIFA 18 is the headliner here, and it stars alongside Assassin’s Creed Origins, Call of Duty: WWII in 4K and Rise of the Tomb Raider.
And, it must be noted that that the same was true of Sony’s 4K library when the PS4 Pro launched but  Sony does have a year’s head start, so there’s a much larger current selection of games than is available for the Xbox One X right now.
Still, as more developers begin to release patches for existing games, the landscape should change soon; in fact we expect as the console goes on sale from midnight on 7 November a whole slew of games should become available. And, since Microsoft states there are 130 titles confirmed as “Xbox One X Enhanced”, there will be plenty available to play by Christmas 2017 and throughout 2018. You can keep tabs on those on Microsoft’s website.
